Tuition & Fees

Payment Methods

There are two payment methods. You may pay for your lessons:

  1. at the start of each month.
  2. at the start of each semester.

Those who choose to pay each month do so in advance at the beginning of each month. By including the dates of the desired lessons on their check, they indicate how many lessons they are paying for that month. They pay only for the lessons they receive, recognizing of course that they are subject to the attendance policies of Bel Air Music Studios.

Because the semester payment option provides a significant discount, many elect to pay for their lessons at the start of each semester. The discount, up to 10 percent, is equivalent to just over two lesson’s tuition. For this reason, the plan is not recommended for those who plan to miss more than two lesson’s during the course of the semester. The semester payment plan is billed at a flat rate only, at the amount found on the registration form.

Multi-Student/ Instrument Discount

For those who have two or more students enrolled, or who have one student taking two or more instruments, the second student or instrument is billed at the same rate as the semester plan. The fees and the discount programs are described in our Payment and Attendance Policy.

Monthly Payment Plan Rates

All lessons paid for the month in advance are billed at:

  • $28 per half hour.
  • $41 per 45 minutes.
  • $54 per hour.
Don’t forget that paying the semester in advance provides a 10 percent discount!

This monthly fee includes:

  • Private lesson
  • Preparation for local and state competitions
  • Studio and Honors recitals
  • Studio contests

Instructional material such as books, sheet music, flash cards, and staff paper are supplied by the student, although many of these materials are kept regularly in stock . These materials will be available to students for purchase at cost; we’re only asking to be reimbursed for the exact amount we paid for them.

Semester Payment Plan Rates

Semester payments receive a discount from the regular monthly payment as follows:

  • 30 minutes @ $28 – $3 = $25
  • 45 minutes @ $41 – $4 = $37
  • 60 minutes @ $54 – $6 = $48

 Lessons are paid for the entire semester in advance, and occur weekly on the same day and time, unless your teacher approves changes. The semesters encompass the period between:

  • August 21, 2014 – January 15, 2015
  • January 16, 2015 – June 13, 2015

Payment is due in full at the first lesson of the semester. You are not required to remain in the semester plan for the entire year and may switch to the monthly payment plan at the end of any semester. You are not required to pay for a lesson when:

  • Your teacher cancels a lesson;
  • Your lesson falls on a major holiday;
  • You are performing in a band, orchestra, or musical concert;
  • A family member passes away.

Major holidays include Thanksgiving (4th Thursday and Friday of November), Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and Independence Day. Religious holidays (Yom Kippur, Good Friday for example) are also recognized as excused absences, but the studio remains open. A make-up date can be requested in such cases.

The semester plan is not for students who plan to miss more than two lessons during the semester.  In such a case, the monthly plan saves you an equal amount, and gives more flexibility.

The semester payment plan is not recommended for those taking Monday lessons. In the case of Monday holidays such as Columbus Day, President’s Day, Memorial Day etc., a make-up date will be offered based on the teacher’s schedule for that month.  If the student is unable to attend any of the times offered for a make up lesson, that lesson will have to be forfeited.

There are no refunds or credit extended for any reasons not mentioned above, including family vacations. For the summer we revert to the monthly payment plan where vacations are excused absences. You may not begin a semester on any month other than January or August. There are no exceptions to any of these policies.

The Multiple Family Member/Instrument Discount is not available for those enrolled in the Semester Payment Plan.
