If there are no available trial lesson times or if you have a question about trial lessons, please contact us.
The trial lesson is an opportunity for student and teacher to meet one another to determine if they are compatible with one another, without any long-term commitment. Parents are welcome to accompany children. If a longer lesson length is desired, that can be arranged after the initial 30-minute session.
A Delaware native, Joshua Baker has been enthralled by music since he began playing the euphonium in his 5th grade band. He earned his B.M. in Music Education from the University of Delaware, where he studied under the accomplished tubist Brian Brown.
While at the University of Delaware, Josh was a member of many ensembles on a variety of instruments; euphonium player for the Wind Ensemble, Trombone Choir, Collegium where he performed on sackbut, and the Collegiate band which allowed him to muddle through a concert on oboe. He also had the good fortune to travel to Taiwan with the Wind Ensemble and perform throughout the country during an international band festival.
Since graduation in 2016, Josh has been working as the band and orchestra director at Joppatowne High School in Harford County. When not teaching, he can frequently be found performing on trombone and bass guitar in local pit orchestras, and conducting his own each summer at the University of Delaware’s Community Music School. If he isn’t playing or teaching music, he’s usually hiking/camping, reading fantasy, or playing video games.
