Bio

Nathan is a dynamic teacher and performer who enjoys helping others develop their vocal abilities.

Growing up in Harford County, Nathan earned his Associate’s degree in music from Harford Community College by age 18. At 19, he set out on his first national and world tour with the performing arts group The Continental Singers, traveling throughout most of the continental US, as well as the UK.

Upon completing the tour, he continued with his studies at Morgan State University, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance, graduating from the honors program summa cum laude.  Under the direction of Dr. Nathan Carter, the world-renowned Morgan State University choir provided him with opportunities to perform with The Morgan Singers, an elite group of selected singers.  He was provided opportunities to sing with many orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra and the LA Philharmonic, in venues all over the country. During his time there, the choir was invited to sing at the International Russian Music Festival in St. Petersburg, where they were the first university choir to participate and were the featured ensemble two nights of the festival.

While still in college, Nathan began teaching piano and voice for Joyful Sounds School of Music, developing a successful studio.

In 2006, he was offered his first professional theatre contract and made the jump to being a full time performer.  He has successfully sustained a regional career working in venues such as the Fulton Theatre, The Gretna Playhouse, American Music Theatre and Sight and Sound Theatres, just to name a few. In addition to performing, his teaching skills were put to good use, as he was often the vocal captain for many of the shows he was in.  Recently, he has taken on the larger responsibility of music directing shows for theatre companies in the Lancaster area, including Prima Theatre Co. and Piercing Word.  He most recently served as the Assistant Music Director for Sight and Sound’s original production of Jesus, providing vocal coaching for actors and helping the Music Director create the vocal sound for the show.

In addition to performing, Nathan has continued to teach voice, piano and offered vocal coaching for auditions.  For three years he worked as the accompanist and music director for the Lancaster based Southern Gospel Group Zion’s Cry.  And He was also the keyboardist for two years for the 80’s cover band The Tyme Bandits.

It is with this wealth of experience Nathan brings passion, excitement and knowledge to his studio.  With a foundation of good technique and lessons tailored around the individual, he seeks to help you achieve your goals and provide the tools necessary for a successful musical journey.
